Lara Mikkelsen is a young Australian writer and actress, with previous association with Queensland theatre through both their youth ensemble and young writers program. She holds a long lasting love for theatre, music, and the written word; taking her creative love into her current studies at the University of Queensland Majoring in both Writing and Drama.
Drawing on a childhood spent immersed in classic literature and poetry her work leans into the metaphorical, painting descriptions and characterisation in vivid detail while leaving the subtext just underneath for the reader to interpret themselves. Her works generally revels in the dark and macabre, with many gothic elements weaved throughout. While themes vary, a focus on gender, trauma, introspection, faith, and philosophy can usually be found in almost all her work.
